For field engineers

Field engineers live in the gap between the drawings and the dirt. HeavyCivilHelper logs the questions, conditions, and changes that happen when those two things don't match.

An RFI at Station 42+50 at 7 am, a survey request for a grade conflict at noon, a directive from the superintendent by 2 pm — log all three at the pin, with photos, before you're back at the trailer.

What field engineers track on the map

• RFI logging at the station, from the phone — Drop a pin at the exact station, write the RFI, attach the photo of the conflicting condition, and submit before leaving. The PM sees it immediately.
• Survey request tracking — Log staking and grade verification requests at the station where the survey crew needs to work. The request is on the map — the survey crew sees priority and location.
• Directive documentation at the station — Log verbal directives at the GPS coordinate with a timestamp and photo of conditions. The change order basis is documented before you're back at the trailer.
• Changed conditions with photo documentation — Utility conflicts, grade discrepancies, unexpected materials — logged at the coordinate where discovered with photos. A timestamped field record before any verbal report is made.
